Hi! I'm James Cross.
I'm fanatical about the intersection of consumer, learning and enterprise technology products. And this has taken me on some great adventures - from the classroom, to a startup, to a large public technology company.
I love learning - and I love building products and companies that help people to learn in new ways, and transform themselves.
My journey so far
I now lead on Product Strategy for Workday Learning - an enterprise learning platform that aims to bridge the divide between consumer and workplace learning, using Workday's insights to create a personalized learning experience for employees.
I led on MediaCore's education strategy, as we grew the company from a startup to an established player in the video learning space, being used by the world's leading universities - including Stanford, Brown, Yale, Columbia and UC Berkeley. MediaCore was acquired by Workday in August 2016.
I'm on the Advisory Board of the educational technology startup competition at SXSWedu. I've also been invited to speak lots of times (in 2012, 2013 and 2014) on informal, mobile and video learning. You can see my slide decks on Slideshare
My pivot from the classroom to the product world, with one of the UK's largest software companies. I worked with school districts across the UK on transformation strategies using cloud and mobile technologies, and worked with developers to help shape Civica's cloud learning products.
As a high school teacher I fell in love with learning technology, having seen first-hand the profound impact it could have on students' growth and development. I also fell in love with video and mobile learning - themes that have persisted throughout my career since.
